What is the hardest thing about being a writer?

Writer's block, you can't decide on an idea even though you have lots of ideas. Some days the household chores overwhelm you and you just want pack everything up and curl up in a corner, close your eyes and just sleep.

I've been there and I still struggle a lot with putting down words or meeting targets. What is the hardest part of being a writer? Is it when you conceive an idea and you are so excited, you jump up get a pen and start putting down your thoughts for your new story before they elude you? Or is it when you get confused on the format or the font you have to use? A lot of things bother us as writers. It is normal to get writers block, to just sit there and moan because the words just won't flow.

As a writer, when that happens what do you do? Do you give up and just say "Why do I bother? It's not like I'm going to become a bestselling author, maybe its's not meant to be!" And then, wham we pack it all up for the next couple of weeks, as a writer, I can definitely relate to that.

As writers, we tend to be to hard on ourselves. We worry about how our book will be received. Will people like it? Will it have the wow factor? Most importantly we ask ourselves; "Can I do it? Can I actually write a book people would read and like?" and that is the most important question, the hardest part about being a writer, we question ourselves. Coming up with ideas, meeting targets, making sure we achieve our word count are not the issues we have or what makes it hard being a writer.

Having faith in your skills as a writer, believing in yourself, being comfortable in being you is the hardest part of being a writer. Telling yourself, you can do it, decide what works best for you and just go with the flow. You are definitely not the only writer feeling this way, at some point in their careers, all writers have doubts and insecurities. At some point in tour career, youexperience that period when panic sets in and you want to give up.

What do you do, when that happens?

Relax, take a deep breath and relax. It's okay to take a break and do something you love that will calm your nerves. When that happens, I tend to switch off and binge watch Korean dramas and I have found that it helps me relax. Writing is slow work that requires patience, lots of patience. It requires self-discipline and its important you get yourself in the right frame of mind to write, so be you and do what works best for you. The ideas need to keep flowing!

Keep Writing! Don't stop, write on the days you feel inspired. Write on the days, you don't feel inspired and lack motivation.

Being a writer is not easy and we can all agree that writing and coming up with stories that have the wow factor can be difficult in most cases but the trick is to keep at it and continue motivating yourself and just keep writing.
